Copy stores charge a lot for printing big posters, so here's a tip: Pair up with a friend and get two or more posters printed at a time. The price goes down dramatically for 2nd and 3rd copies. Then protect your poster by spraying it with fixative: An art supply store can recommend a UV fixative to keep the art bright and protect it from minor water spotting. For hardcore weather-proofing, get your poster laminated. Or just cover the surface with parallel strips of clear packing tape. This is cheap and works just fine.
